Groups march to Mendiola and the US Embassy to express outrage over deaths in Mamasapano and to hold President Aquino, General Purisima and the US Embassy for their criminal liabilities for the bloody encounter. Calls for Aquino’s resignation were part of the protest branding him as “Commandeath in Chief”.

According to Bayan, Aquino violated the chain of command by placing suspended Purisima in charge of the operation which in turn breached the suspension order of the Ombudsman by failing to inform his own PNP, OIC and DILG secretary of the operation, to coordinate with other cabinet officials and the AFP, and to inform the government peace panel and the MILF. The president also infringed the ceasefire agreement allowing the participation of the US government in an internal operation.

Policemen, who were urged to speak out and join the protests, expressed their silent support by wearing black ribbons on their patches.
