February 27, 2015-Thousands of protesters from different sectors gathered near the Mendiola Peace Arch in Manila to register the call for President Benigno Aquino III to resign from office amid this administration’s cover-up and whitewash schemes on the Mamasapano encounter. Huge banners and placards bore “Noynoy Resign” demands, consistent with the crowd’s chants for the president to step down.
The Aquino administration has been hounded by several, inclusing but not limited to the US-dictated Mamasapano bloodshed, the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), the MRT-LRT Fare Hike, and negligence over Typhoon Yolanda rehabilitation efforts.
Students from all over the Philippines also staged walk-out protests in their respective high schools, colleges, and universities to register condemnation over tuition and other school fees increases.
“Aquino’s long list of of atrocities compels the Filipino people to fight for change and intensify the clamor for his resignation. Soon, millions of Filipinos will take the streets and write another page in history by ousting Aquino,” said LFS National Spokesperson Charisse Bañez.
