The US government, President Aquino and ex-PNP chief Alan Purisima as the ‘masterminds’ behind botched Oplan Exodus, according to labor group Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU).
In a statement, KMU denounces Aquino for allowing the participation of the US government in the operation that intended to capture Malaysian Zulkifli Abdhir, but resulted in a clash between PNP SAF-forces and members of the MILF and BIFF, exactly one year ago today.
“Mamasapano shows the real face of the so-called ‘war on terror’ of the US. The target was spawned by decades of US brutality towards Muslims and the oppressed workers and peoples of the world. It entailed the violation of the sovereignty of the puppet state [of President Aquino],” said KMU secretary-general Jerome Adonis.
Adding to the 44 PNP-SAF fatalities are 18 members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), four members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), and at least seven civilians.
Along with the ‘war on terror’, the group also condemns the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), which will legalize US bases and justify the presence of US troops in the Philippines.
“We demand the junking of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement, the Visiting Forces Agreement, and other agreements that legalize US military presence in the country. Ultimately, we seek to get rid the country of the domination of the US and its allies among the ruling classes,” Adonis added.
